Superhero is the debut single by Caribbean singer Jane Mik, released as the lead single of her debut album of the same name. It was released on March 26, 2013 to generally positive reviews. It peaked at number 1 in the US Billboard Hot 100. Seven years after it's initial release, it re-entered the top ten of the iTunes charts after being featured as a lip-sync song on Queen Chanté's Drag Race during an episode in which Mik was a guest judge.
Music Video[]
The music video, directed by Mat Whitecross, was shot between March 26 and 27, 2013, and released on April 4, 2013.
The video features Mik at a sleepover with other friends, but when they're all asleep, Mik just keeps thinking about her boyfriend (played by Mitch Hewer). The video then cuts to Mik's dream, where she was Hewer's superhero, doing everything for him and saving him of difficult situations. The video then ends with Mik saying "I'm no superhero." and the screen fading black.
