The Simpsons: Back in Action is a 2019 feature-length film based on The Simpsons. This sequel to The Simpsons Movie is produced by Gracie Films and Annapurna Pictures for 20th Century Fox with animation produced by Film Roman and Rough Draft Studios and was released worldwide August 9, 2019 (with the exception of the United Kingdom and Australia, where the film was released on August 8, 2019). Individual producers of the film include James L. Brooks, Matt Groening, Al Jean, Mike Scully, and Richard Sakai and was written by eleven of the television series' most prolific writers: Scully, Jean, Brooks, Groening, Ian Maxtone-Graham, George Meyer, David Mirkin, Mike Reiss, Matt Selman, John Swartzwelder, and Jon Vitti. The film was directed by David Silverman, a former supervising director of The Simpsons TV series. The film stars the regular television cast of Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, Hank Azaria, Harry Shearer, Pamela Hayden and Tress MacNeille, with the film's live action cast of Selena Gomez, Mila Kunis, and Andy Daly.
